Services

ACG SA, formerly Aerodyne Advanced Composites, based in Cape Town, South Africa, was acquired by the Group in 2006. ACG SA provides a world class manufacturing service to McLaren Mercedes for its prestigious SLR supercar, producing major tooling suites and building thousands of advanced composite carbon fibre components at its fully equipped facility.

 

 

 

Manufacturing

ACG SA offers full CAD/CAM facilities together with complete 5-axis machining. Ply cutting services are also offered up to 9.5m x 1.5m capacity. State-of-the-art autoclaves having a maximum capacity of 2.5m diameter x 7.3m long, both of which are available for operations in the region 200°C to 7bar pressure. Full component trimming and spraying facilities are also readily accommodated within a large capacity trimming booth, including full dust extraction capability. Similarly, a large capacity, positively pressurised spray booth, incorporating built-in curing up to 60°C is also available. In-house milling, turning and routing services are also offered.

 

 

 

Research Support

ACG SA's business is highly complementary to other Group activity and provides an excellent demonstrator for ACG's proven and tested materials in a mass production automotive environment. ACG has a reputation for developing, supplying standard and customised prepregs to a multitude of high performance automotive, aerospace and motorsport customers, including: Koenigsegg, Porsche and Formula One racing teams, Boeing, Airbus, Columbia Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation, to name but a few.
